About Chiropractic Care

At Allen Family Chiropractic care focuses on adjustments, or corrections, of any joint and the way it moves or doesn't move. Any time a joint stops functioning properly it may cause pain to you, and cause other areas of your body to function improperly and hurt as well. Manipulation of these joints to correct this improper pattern of movement is a chiropractic adjustment.

Lower back pain

The number one complaint we see is lower back pain, sometimes with pain shooting to the sides, or even into the legs. This is very common and can be scary if you've never experienced this before; However, it doesn't have to be that way.

Many medical professionals are recommending chiropractic care as the number one solution for your low back pain, and the treatment for this is simple, typically pain free, and will help get you back on your feet, doing what you love, in no time.

Sports Injury & Arms or Legs

Are you having difficulty running, biking, swimming, working out, or just not enjoying those fun activities you're wanting to enjoy?

Many of us suffer through the pain to try and "enjoy" those things we typically do during the day. Why not get them taken care of and stop "dealing with it?" Chiropractic care isn't just for the spine. Shoulders get hurt, elbows ache, knees feel stiff, ankles roll, and hips pop. We can help get you back to feeling normal again.

Many of these pains can be aggravated by the very things you love doing, but my philosophy is don't stop doing the things you love, just remember that good health and healthy joints and muscles will help you get back to your full potential.

Whiplash

Auto accidents, and other accidents, can cause tearing in both the front and back of the neck. These take time to heal and can often result in a stiff and unstable spine. Whiplash can be a simple as a sore neck from slight muscle tearing to spinal cord injury from ruptured discs or ligament tearing.

Anytime the neck is injured the resulting swelling and muscle imbalance can put pressure on a bundle of nerves in the lower neck, called the brachial plexus, which can cause symptoms to radiate into the arms, and in some cases, all the way to the fingers.

Having these problems properly evaluated and treatment is a must if you don't want long lasting pain or stiffness. Injuries this severe are almost always easier to treat sooner rather than later.

Pediatrics

Kids love feeling great. As they move and play they tend to get out of alignment. That's the spine rotating one way or another and getting stuck. Because they are still growing and developing they may recovery quickly; however, those that don't may grow with a compensatory mechanism such as scoliosis, foot flare, tibial torsion, torticollis, or any one of a number of other conditions.

At Allen Family Chiropractic we encourage you to make it a stop for the whole family. As seen above, Dr. Allen's daughter does not like it if she doesn't get worked on right away.

Headaches & neck pain

The number one complaint we see is lower back pain, sometimes with pain shooting to the sides, or even into the legs. This is very common and can be scary if you've never experienced this before; However, it doesn't have to be that way.

TMD, TMJ, Jaw Pain, Jaw clicking & Jaw Popping

Do you hear or feel your jaw popping and clicking? Do you constantly have headaches that won't go away with any treatment?

Temporomandibular Disorders, or TMD, relate to the jaw joint, the muscles surrounding the jaw, and the nerves that connect them all. Many times it is caused by stress, grinding your teeth, or jaw clenching while you sleep. Although it may be painful, treatment for this disorder can be simple. The first job is to correct the jaws motion and try to prevent the pop from happening. Adjustments can be made to the jaw to help correct motion and restore health. Working with your posture and other neck issues may also be a key in resolving this problem. By correcting the motion and alignment of the jaw, and working with your dentist, we have a very high success rate in resolving many TMJ related issues.

Hip Pain

Hip pain can be coming from several different sources. Anterior hip (front thigh) pain may be due to muscle injury, joint movement restrictions, nerve impingement or a few other causes. Lateral hip (side) pain can be muscle, tendon, joint, or bursa related. Posterior hip pain can be caused by muscle imbalance, poor posture, abnormal gait, low back problems and many others. Often the posterior hip will also involve pressure on the sciatic nerve and lead to pain, numbness or tingling going down into the leg some. Chiropractic care improves joint movement and gets muscles functioning properly again. Balancing muscle strength form left to right is also important which is why, at Allen Family Chiropractic, it is usually recommended to participate in some rehabilitative therapy both in office and at home.

Plantar Fasciitis

Does the bottom of your foot hurt? Do you get heel pain frequently? Is it worse right when you get up in the morning? Does walking make you foot pain go away?

If you answered "yes" to any of those, then it is likely that you have a spasm or strain of the plantar fascia. It aids in holding our foots arch, and when it is injured the arch may collapse causing foot pain.

Loosening the tissues surrounding the injury with chiropractic care will typically resolve this injury. The average patient only has a few visits worth of treatment before they notice an almost life-changing difference, especially if it has been a problem for a while.
